Halloween

I have been looking forward to this Halloween since November 1st last year. I actually picked my own costume this time and even kept a hat on my head! I wanted to be a police officer so naturally Mya had to dress up as a prisoner (a super cute and innocent one though). We both loved collecting treats from our neighbors and then not sharing one single bite with one another once we got home.

And we're off!

Mya was tired of holding her bag so she decided to wear it around her neck (and despite the obvious strangulation hazzard, my folks didn't stop her).

Check out some of my/our past Halloweens: 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Pumpkin Patch

It has been an annual fall tradition to jump start our allergies by visiting the pumpkin patch. Another constant is Mya refusing to be in a "posed" picture with me.

First Day of School

After Labor Day, we finally started school! Boy, was I ready to head back. Mom was running out of activities, and I was getting so tired of going to the gym. You'd think that my mom would have her high school figure back by how much we went.

So, first we had Meet the Teacher. I was very excited to finally see my new preschool teachers and classroom. This is Mya's first time in Mother's Day Out so she had no idea what to expect.

Our first day started out uneventfully. I did forget to tell my mom goodbye, but she understood that I wanted to get to work (and she was embarrassing me with all the picture taking). However, my sweet sister didn't know what was about to happen- she was left there for a whole five hours! The horror! She barely ate and didn't sleep, but she did survive her first day. Now she doesn't even cry when she is dropped off.

Trip to San Antonio

For Labor Day weekend, we trekked down to San Antonio to visit Lola and Papo. It was actually another "Termulo gathering" because my cousins came also. It was a first to have all of us staying under one roof (the last time we were all together in S.A., Mya wasn't born yet). I had so much fun with my cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and of course riding on the infamous golf cart! My sister especially liked playing with Reese. I guess she gets tired of her big brother bossing her around.

Mya actually slept for an hour on the way down there but coming back home was a different story!

Another Haircut

Mya's hair was getting a bit long again (but still not as out of control as it was previously), so we took her took get it trimmed up. We spared Nona the hassle since it was time for me to get one, too.
(Yes, that is me sitting in a pink Jeep. Yes, I chose that pink Jeep over the red Corvette this time.)

Vacation Bible School

Mom was sooooo extremely excited that this summer I am old enough to go to Vacation Bible School. Actually, I went to two different churches (we don't discriminate when it comes to summer activities). I had a lot of fun both weeks and actually enjoyed seeing another church besides our own. My mom was especially glad that there was another fun and age-appropriate way for me to learn about God; I know this because every day she thanked Him for VBS when she dropped me off.

Fourth of July

To celebrate the anniversary that America declared independence from the England, mom dressed us up in patriotic colors and attempted to take pictures of us again. We went to see fireworks. Actually, Nona was nice enough to stay at home while Mya slept and my folks took me out WAY past my bedtime- and we were ALL feeling it the next day.

Father's Day

Happy belated Father's Day to my awesome Dad, Papa, and Papo! We love you!

FOUR!

It's official. I turned four years old on the 19th. But, of course, the celebrations were spread out over a week's period. First, I brought cupcakes to school a week early on the 13th (all of our birthdays are around the same time so we're assigned a specific day to bring treats). The whole school decided to recognize my big day by making it Hawaiian Spirit Day. Ok, it was a coincidence but still a nice thought.

My party on the 14th was with my playgroup friends at the new McDonald's (Mom got REALLY lazy this year). Who knew that 20 kids and their moms could fit into the play area there?

On my actual birthday I ate birthday pancakes for breakfast, went to playgroup at the mall for lunch, and had dinner at Gatti Town (maybe we need to re-evaluate our diet?). We played so many games; Mya was no challenge in bowling and I "scored" my folks. How embarrassing for them.

Mother's Day

Each year at school we celebrate Muffins with Mom. Usually I eat everything off of my plate and Mom's, but this time Mya did that for me. She also ate the food off of my classmates and their moms. We did something different this year for Mother's Day. Kyleigh and Mikinley (ok, so actually their parents) have a horse, Backstrap, that was racing at Lone Star Park on Sunday, so the whole family spent the afternoon watching the races. How else would you honor your mother than gambling away her retirement? We were able to go down to where the horses get ready and meet the trainers and jockeys. Then we watched Backstrap race from down there; unfortunately he didn't win (he came in third). At the huge, yummy buffet with all the variety of dishes, I primarily chose to enjoy strawberries and cakes. So, that ended up being some really expensive fruit.

Creepy

I know that my mom loves Mya and me very much, but I did not realize that she actually peeks in on us after we fall asleep and sometimes takes pictures. Maybe I should be going to bed with one eye open.

Easter

After finding our Easter surprises from some bunny I've never even met or seen, we allowed my parents to survive a long mass that morning (plus we got there really early to get seats). We weren't able to have an egg hunt with our friends this year, so we had one at home after lunch. That sister of mine was way too slow and kept trying to eat those plastic eggs (we didn't tell her that the edible treats were actually inside), so I got almost all of them. Mya had to nap yet again, but we went to Nona and Papa's house later for chaos and dinner with our cousins.

Great Wolf Lodge

For Reese's 7th birthday, Lola and Papo came up from San Antonio and we all went on a family "trip" to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine (usually our destinations are further than forty minutes away). The resort was so cool with so many things for the kids to do even out of the water. Sure it cost a pretty penny, but doesn't money just grow on trees? At least that's what the government believes. Oops, I digress.

We got there on Saturday and swam for a while then went out to eat. Afterwards, we all celebrated Reese's birthday with cake in our suite. When we went to bed that night the four of us slept in the same room for the first time ever! My parents didn't sleep well because apparently I was waking them up with all of my potty trips and late-night "requests." They were thankful though that I didn't wake up Mya. The next morning we swam more and then headed home. It was a great time with the Termulo clan, but next time I might be forced to sleep in the living room.

Walking Doll

This is what a baby learns to do while her parents go off on vacation WITHOUT her/us. Nona and Papa kept trying to push her back down, but it didn't work.

St. Kitts

Over Spring Break, Mom and Dad decided to go on a trip . . . WITHOUT us! They went to the West Indies in the Caribbean and had a great time . . . WITHOUT us! Fortunately for us, Nona and Papa let us keep them company during that week. Did I mention that my folks went WITHOUT us?

While they were there, Dad played golf and went scuba diving. In the meantime Mom enjoyed laying in the shade by the pool and beach while reading a good book . . . and nursing the cold I gave her. They did also get to go zip lining together over the canopies of the island. Maybe one day they'll bring us with them.

Spring Snowfall

The evening that my folks returned from their SIX-day trip from the Caribbean, we received another 8+ inches of snow. So, the next morning I went on another walk around the neighborhood, built another snowman, made another batch of snowballs, yada yada yada. This snow is getting old.

Mya's First Haircut

I think that everyone is familiar with sister's wild hair so now that it has grown out a lot (and she hit that one-year milestone), Mommy wanted to even it out. Nona trimmed my Mya's hair, but since we've been so used to the long (and unruly) locks, she looks like a different baby to us. Don't worry, though. It will grow longer again (and get those curls back), but this time it will be more manageable.

Trip to San Antonio

Mom's BFF in San Antonio, Jen, is having a baby and she helped to throw her a baby shower. Oddly enough, there were no babies or showers at the event. So, we took a trip down there and visited Lola and Papo. Although Mya does not sleep in the car, she did manage to snooze for 30 minutes out of the arduous FIVE AND A HALF HOUR drive there (and a whole hour on the drive back). We need to remember to bring earplugs for our next road trip.

Our Baby Turns One!

February 19 marked Little Miss Mya's first birthday and coincidentally the one-year anniversary of the relief of mom's back pain. It was very exciting for her but so sad for Mom and Dad (not sure why though). She celebrated her big day a few days early with a tea party at La Madeleine and seemed to have lots of fun with her friends. Just like me on my first birthday, she didn't really dig into her cake; I guess that "anal-ness" is hereditary. After dinner on her actual birthday, we took her on the carousel (one of my own favorite things to do next to "riding" the escalator). Happy birthday, Baby Doll!

Mya's First Valentine's Day

Mya missed V-Day last year by several days so this is actually her first one. We went to our annual party at Meredith and Caroline's house and she was able to eat all the treats including the bits that fell on the floor. On Valentine morning we were suprised with balloons and candy. Unfortunately, she was scared of the balloons and liked the box more than the chocolate.

Even MORE Snow!

This week we got TWELVE inches of snow! We woke up Thursday morning to two inches of snow and it never stopped until Friday morning (thankfully for Mommy, schools didn't close until Friday). We didn't even having freezing temperatures until the evening hours but a record amount still accumulated. I have gotten to be a pro at building a snowman (or at least directing Daddy). One day I'll teach Mya how to make one, but she'll have to grow out of all that sleeping that she does.

More December Snow

A few days after Christmas it snowed again and we made another snowman. This time we did it right and built one even taller than me (I realize that's not saying much).

Christmas 2009

I was sooo excited this year about Christmas and the morning couldn't come soon enough. I woke up and breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that Santa ignored my behaviors over the past year and left me gifts anyway. Mya had no idea what was going on so I helped her open up her presents. It was like getting double gifts- she doesn't know how to use a lot of those toys so I will be playing with them until she takes them back. In the afternoon we went to Nona and Papa's to play with my cousins and open even MORE presents. It was the most "profitable" year yet! I love it when Jesus has a birthday!
