Finally walking on my own!

I am a big boy now! I had been cautiously taking steps for a few weeks, but I am now much braver in venturing off without the safety of any support (Mommy has started checking into our insurance in anticipation of many head injuries). I still prefer crawling since it's a lot more efficient, but I can't wait to get faster at being truly bipedal so I can go jogging with Daddy. Check out my skills . . .

Trip to San Antonio

This past week I went to visit my relatives in the Alamo city. Our flight to San Antonio was delayed so Mommy found a children's play area (albeit quite lame) to occupy me in the meantime. My first experience on a plane was awful! How in the world can anyone be expected to just sit for more than 2 minutes? Snacks, toys, books, and a Wiggles DVD were not enough to hold my interest, and I wanted to walk around the whole time. Mommy felt sorry for the people that sat around us since I was so busy. The flight was full, but I was able to have my own seat until everyone else boarded.
Whenever we go to San Antonio, there's always a lot of shopping involved. That Lola sure can spend some money! After a full afternoon, I even fell asleep in the car on the short trip home (I NEVER do that)! I visited my great grandmother (great Lola?) . . .
went to the pool at Lola and Papo's country club . . .
played with my cousins Caleb and Jacob . . . and rode on a train (during yet another mall excursion).
I had a great time and hope to visit them again soon. But Mommy said that next time we will definitely be driving!

Mommy made me do it!

Mommy thought that the original colors on my blog were too dark, so she made me change it to something lighter.

Updates

In the past couple of months I have achieved many things. The saddest one for Mommy is for me to give up the bottle. She had worked hard since my birthday to substitute my morning bottle with a sippy, but I finally did it at 13 months. That must mean that I'm no longer a baby.

I am identifying a lot of common things/actions, following most routine directions, and demonstrating functional use of objects. I have learned to stand up on my own and take some steps independently. As of this past week, I am also starting to drop a nap. By the time Daddy gets home during those one-nap days, Mommy is ready for her own bottle (it's a big glass one with red "juice" in it).

This Sunday Mommy and I are flying to San Antonio to visit my other grandparents and relatives. We were going to drive there, but Lola and Papo didn't want us to drive "alone" (i.e., without Daddy). So, Mommy has hesitantly built up the nerve to take me on my first plane trip (that ride-on toy doesn't count). Although it's a short flight she's really nervous about it since I'm always on the go. But as long as I have all the room to climb and cruise around wherever I want, I'll do great. So, what's to worry about? I'll let you know next week how my trip goes. Mommy said that she might be leaving me there, though.

Disturbing the process

Here is a video of me taken a couple of months ago. I was about to take a nap when I caught Mommy trying to tape my "process" of sleeping. I hate it when she interrupts me like that.
